Old school post-punk / indie for the 21st century
The band consists of John Edwards (Guitar, Vocals) and Richard van Kruysdijk (Bass, Vocals) and Facteur Cheval (a 40-year old drum machine).
The two originally started playing music together just after the first post-punk / indie bands came along. To this day, they’re still inspired by The Sound, The Cure, The Smiths, Joy Division, and Buzzcocks. A new wave of acts in the genre – such as Interpol, The Strokes, White Lies, and Spector – led to the duo starting Palais Ideal in 2016 to perform their energetic, melodic songs.
Palais Ideal has performed and toured across Europe and the UK with iconic bands such as Clan of Xymox, Wire and others. Currently signed to Germany’s Cold Transmission label, they are working on new material and releases, featuring a more stripped-down, guitar-driven sound.
“It's all extremely good and thoroughly enjoyable. An instant classic."
